To support workforce development and sector-led improvement, Curators of Change Collective are working with Partners in Care and Health to co-produce a set of I and We statements drawing on the shared workforce priorities. We will be co-producing with people who work in services and people who access services, including commissioners, carers and providers.

15:00-18:30. This interactive event is called: “They’re Not Clapping Now: How do we fix the social care workforce crisis?” and will feature an expert panel including the Co-Chair of the Care Association Alliance, the CEO of Care Friends and the Chief Executive of Skills for Care, among others.

14:00-16:00. “The Home Care Research Forum provides an opportunity for researchers, people working in the field and others with an interest in homecare to gather and discuss current exciting research and to establish new networks and connections”. At November’s forum, there will be talks on: “UK homecare providers’ views about, and experiences of, digital care management systems” and “International recruitment of care workers: implications for homecare”.

10:00-12:00. Researchers at the Open University wish to engage with frontline care workers to ask them for their thoughts on the role of relationships in care. The researchers will produce a report based on the findings of the webinar and anything you contribute will be anonymised. Please email hello@homecarewg.org if you'd like to attend.

Social care practitioners hold a wealth of knowledge and expertise about their work but opportunities to bridge the gap between research and practice and provide opportunities for reflection and reciprocity are limited. Initiatives in recent years are working to address this gap, notably the School for Social Care research within the NIHR. This seminar seeks to understand the role of practitioner-researchers in enhancing our understanding of social care and thus our ability to innovate and improve services through research and by bringing together different types of knowledge and evidence. The event will include presentations by academics and practitioners, time for discussion led by our co-production advisory group and end with an invitation to get involved in our plans to develop a knowledge(s) network.
